Poros is very close to the Greek capital of Athens. It is also very close to the mainland, making Poros possibly the only island in Greece which is accessible 24 hours a day. Travel to Poros may be achieved either by sea, or by driving from the mainland.
From Athens International Airport, you can catch either the E96 bus or the metro (changing from blue to green line at Monastiraki station). This bus terminal is exactly outside the arrivals terminal, and goes straight to Pireaus, the main harbour. The bus ride from the airport to Piraeus will take approximately one hour, same as the metro.

Make sure you check the ferry and hydrofoil time-tables, because you might have to spend a lot of time in the harbor, waiting for the next ferry/hydrofoil. From Pireaus, you have the choice of a ferry boat or hydrofoil (the 'Flying Dolphin') to Poros. On arrival at Poros, Alkyoni rooms is 3klms to your left along the harbour, towards Askeli. You can get a taxi or the public bus which runs often.

By car from Athens, take the highway to Korinth. After the exit Loutraki, take the next exit Epidavros. Follow this road until you reach Palea Epidavros, and then take the road to Kranidi, Porto-Heli. After a few klms, turn left at the sign for Galatas - Poros. Carrying straight on you'll find youself in Galatas village. Ferries run from Galatas to Poros every 30 minutes, and the crossing takes only 10 minutes. On arrival at Poros, turn left out of the ferry port, and follow the road straight on for about 3klms. Right after Evriali pizzeria, turn left and go on for 200meters. You will see us on the corner at your left hand side.

In Poros you can travel by bus, taxi or taxi boat. There are 2 buses, one going to Askeli - Monastery, and the other to Neorio, Love Bay and Russian bay. The taxi boats connect Poros to Galatas every 10 minutes and during summer they will take you to some of the lovely beaches.

Hiring a bicycle, moped or car, will give you the opportunity to move on the island more freely - just remember your driving licence for the car or moped!
